L’oeil est tout naturellement attiré vers la clarté de cette scène. Et lorsqu’il arrive au centre lumineux, c’est le bien-être, la récompense pour avoir passé sous la masse d’arbres mystérieuse. Cette masse où on frissonne, ou bien où on se rafraîchit, où on est momentanément aveuglés et contemplons la présence de bêtes grosses et petites, ou un lieu où on sent l’épinette à plein nez. Mais tôt ou tard on se lasse d’y rester et on se tourne vers la clairière.

The eyes are drawn to the luminous centre of this scene. And once there, a feeling of well-being is felt. It is the reward for passing through the dark mysterious mass of trees. The dark mass where one might shiver or feel refreshed, where one is momentarily blinded and led to wondering about various living things nearby, or where one can revel in the odor of pine. Sooner or later, however, we long to go to the clearing. We belong in the light.
